New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center’s Komansky Center for Children’s Health raised over $1.4 million at their seventh annual Plates for Pediatrics Benefit in 2017. The benefit collaborated with Carolina Herrera, attracting nearly 500 attendees. The benefit was hosted at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City, New York.
Notable attendees include Carolina Herrera, Ali Wise, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Allison Aston, Patricia Lansing, Brett Herman, Alexandra Robertson, Rebekah McCabe, and Ammara Yaqub. Also in attendance were the Board of Trustees for New York-Presbyterian, Dr. Herbert Pardes, executive vice chair, and Stepanie Landess, the auctioneer for the benefit.

Lucy Liu, honorary chair, Dr. Gerald Loughlin, the pediatrician-in-chief at the Komansky Center for Children’s Health, and the Pediatric Support Committee and Children’s Advisory Council helped raise funds for vital children’s programs at the hospital. These programs included:
- Child Life Services: alleviates the fear of hospitals in children through social, emotional, and educational activities for both the children and their parents/families.
- The Pediatric Simulation Center: one of New York-Presbyterian’s Komansky Center for Children’s Health’s most important teaching resources. The program helps educate in various ways that reduce error and improve patient safety and care, especially for newborns.
- Clinical Genetics Services: provides diagnostic treatment for patients and their families with a high risk of genetic conditions.
- Residency education: the hospital’s three-year residency program for doctors entering the pediatrics field, providing support and education through the development of exceptional general pediatric care and its subspecialties.
The Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children’s Health at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center provide some of the best pediatric care in the country. The hospital is ranked among the top hospitals in the New York metropolitan area and remains one of the best academic medical institutions.
