In November of 2017, the MOCA Projects Council hosted the Women in the Arts Luncheon, featuring a runway show for the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Arts) brand’s fall and winter women’s collection. The 2017 collection featured boho-chic fashion, with several of the guests showing up in prints to show their support.
Guest tickets ranged from $350 to $1,000 for each of the 400 guests in attendance. $100,000 of the proceeds were earmarked fr MOCA’s education and exhibitions.
It was the 10th annual luncheon, hosted by Lillian Lovelace and Tala Madani. Lovelace, a philanthropist, and Madani, an artist, put on a distinguished show at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, a Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Notable attendees include Ali Wise along with Tina Brown, Twyla Tharp, Anjelica Huston, Yoko Ono, and Annie Leibovitz. Attendees are revered for both their leadership and innovation in arts, dance, music, and literature.
The event had attendees of all kinds – from art collectors to artists, to actors, and more, other notable attendees include museum supporters David Johnson, Kathi Cypres, Sutton Stracke, Wonmi Kwon, and Mandy and Cliff Einstein, Edythe Broad, and Lilly Tartikoff Karatz.
Chairs of the event include MOCA’s Projects Council president Ann-Rose Kaplan, Carol Stein, Sharon Romick, Nancy Koven, Marilyn Resnick, Stephanie Vahn, and Eydie Desser. Kaplan said of the event, “Teaming an artistic fashion house like Etro with our women in the arts event is so appropriate because art influences fashion, and fashion influences art.”
Founded in 1968, Etro is an Italian fashion house that defines style by creating soft, refined, and paisley-clad designs.
